Google TV’s New Live Guide Offers 800+ Free Streaming Channels

Google TV has introduced a Live guide that aggregates over 800 free livestreaming channels, featuring news channels from ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox among others. The channels can be accessed without the need to download or launch an app. Google TV, which serves as an entertainment interface, offers a wide variety of channels, including premium programming and recently added free channels from Fox Corp.’s Tubi, Plex and Haystack News, and Pluto TV. The platform also offers programming in over 10 languages, including Spanish, Hindi, and Japanese.

The Live guide brings together all of the user’s channels and arranges them by topic and genre, and provides access to program listings for customers with premium live TV subscriptions or access to over-the-air broadcast channels. In addition, Google TV intends to make the new TV guide and free channels available on “eligible Android TV devices” later this year.

Google TV competes with other streaming platforms, such as Roku, Amazon’s Fire TV, and Apple TV. In a blog post about the Live guide, Google product manager Nick Staubach wrote, “From breaking news to blockbuster movies and everything in between, there’s something for everyone. And with no subscriptions or fees, it’s never been easier to jump in and start watching.”

Google TV is an internet giant’s interface for streaming video services, movies, shows, and apps, embedded in Google’s Chromecast streaming dongle and smart TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense, and Philips
